About Me

Hi, I'm Jessica.

I'm a certified general-ed teacher, homeschool mom, and self-taught artist. I love a simple life- taking care of my family, being out in nature, and creating art.

As for art, I have to do it. I'm drawn to it. I crave it. Sometimes I don't even understand why myself, but that's okay. I just know that somehow it's a purpose in my life.

I started my website and Etsy shop for a chance to share my art with people. The first year I started was not very successful. I learned a lot of things about running a shop and selling art the hard way. I started creating what I thought people wanted rather than what I truly felt like I needed to do. Then I realized I was doing it for all the wrong reasons. I closed my shop and shut down my website for an extended break, and I spent a few years continuing to draw and paint for myself and local friends and family.

Then in 2019 I felt like I should open my website and shop back up. I didn't do it for money or fame. I knew that I wanted the paintings stacking up to have a home, to be seen and enjoyed rather than packed away in a closet. I became determined to do it for the right reasons. I prayed that my focus would stay on the right track, that I would do the art I felt led to do and somehow bless other people with it. I reopened my shop on Jan. 1, 2020.

When I draw or paint, it's a practice in observation of the beautiful creation around and within us. I see beauty in the fine details of birds' feathers, amazing strength in a delicate wildflower, love reflected in a pet's eyes. I draw and paint what brings me joy, and I want to share it with people. I want to bring smiles to people's faces and happiness into people's lives.
